This domed, sterling silver cuff bracelet, measuring 2 1/4 inches at its widest point, features two hand-sculpted sterling flowers — one with a 14K yellow gold frog and gold beads between the flower petals, and the second with a 14K gold center and a gold lizard. The main attraction, however, is the 14K yellow gold steer head, which boasts red gold lightning bolts for horns.

Drain’s buckle features a red gold steer head, silver edge, yellow gold stem work and red gold flowers; all sculpted and engraved. Pictured here at actual size, it measures approximately 3 by 2 3/8 inches and fits a 1 1/2-inch belt.

Mark Drain was fortunate to be mentored by silversmith Al Pecetti and saddlemaker Bill Maloy in Reno, Nevada. He opened his own silver shop in 1973 and became a friend of Francis Harry, whom Drain considers the finest Western engraver of all time. Today, Drain continues to do silver projects and machine shop work, and hosts a few people wanting to improve their engraving skills.
