Traditional California Style Spurs

These men’s traditional California style spurs are handcrafted from steel and feature 2-inch, 21-point rowels with engraved sterling silver rowel discs. The bands and shanks are accented with multiple inlaid sterling silver stripes, while hand-sculpted jingle bobs and sterling silver spots add depth and traditional detailing throughout the design. The engraved sterling silver spur buttons complement the layered sterling silver flower conchas, while a French gray finish creates contrast that enhances the relief-style engraving in the steel.

Every element of these spurs has been handcrafted and finished by hand, Erickson said, reflecting the refined craftsmanship, balanced proportions and decorative traditions that define the classic California style of bit and spur making.

Raised on a Utah sheep and cattle ranch, Amy Erickson’s background gives her a deep understanding of the functionality and craftsmanship required in quality Western gear. Her creations reflect a lifelong commitment to the Western lifestyle, blending functionality with art in every piece. In 2013, Erickson began her formal journey into engraving under the mentorship of Ernie Marsh. She has continued to refine her skills through advanced training and fellowships, including the 2020 Art of the Cowgirl Bit Making Fellowship, the 2021 Wyoming Arts Council Folk and Traditional Arts Fellowship and the 2024–2026 Traditional Cowboy Arts Association Fellowship. Today, she operates Erickson Bit and Spur in southwestern Wyoming, where she creates functional heirloom pieces built to be used and treasured for generations.
