Gabe Williams
Napa, California
Shaped by a lifetime around horses and working gear, Gabe Williams is a saddlemaker whose pieces are rooted in the traditions of California and the Great Basin. His fascination with saddles began early, when he was first drawn to their sculptural lines and how they move with a horse in motion. While in college, Williams was invited to spend the winter in a saddle shop, where he began learning the craft hands-on. He later attended saddlemaking school in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and continued developing as a saddlemaker while working as a cowboy on ranches throughout the Great Basin and California. Today, Williams builds working saddles that honor traditional lines while striving to inspire the same sense of wonder that first drew him to the craft.
